No chart - are these just taken from some other fund, or have you done your own classification to make sure these stocks belong in AI ?
- The sleeves are ETF proxies (SMH, IGV, MAGS, GRID), not an independent bottom-up AI classification.
- Each carries non-AI names (IGV IT services, GRID regulated utilities) — treat as approximations, not curated baskets.
Lets do bottom up grouping into such groups - compute, power, software, neocloud, etc (or any other grouping you think is most appropriate)
- The bottom-up rebuild groups 61 names into 10 layers, with compute at ~8T (47%), foundry ~4T and memory ~2T.
- AI software's top name PLTR is ~75% of the layer, and compute's NVDA is ~65%.
- 12-month returns have ranged from -55% for ORCL to +325% for MU, with MRVL at ~173%.
Compute silicon is the largest layer at ~8T, ahead of foundry at ~4T and memory at ~2T, across 61 names.

Just explain in text - what does this caveat mean? I dont understand
- n=6 caveat: the 0.72 correlation rests on six monthly returns — its 95% range is roughly -0.2 to 0.95, so it cannot be distinguished from randomness.
- ETF-proxy caveat: the sleeves are baskets like SMH/IGV/GRID, which include non-AI names, so they approximate rather than define each layer.
just give text explanation - why did you continue using sleeves of baskets, instead of bottoms up making your own groupings?
- Bottom-up baskets were used for structure, weights and 2-year returns; sleeves were used only where a clean, continuous price series was needed.
- Correlating 61 names needs complete month-end closes for every constituent; unverified gaps would corrupt r and beta, so audited ETF series were the safer input.
- Trade-off: precision vs data integrity — rerun on equal-weighted bottom-up baskets to test, especially concentrated layers (NVDA ~65%, PLTR ~75%).
Why would it corrupt r and beta ? did you have data issue? (explain only text)
- With ~6 monthly observations per layer, a single missing month-end close changes the sample itself, so r and beta are computed on different name mixes each month.
- Not a data error — the underlying prices are correct; the constraint is full-coverage constituent history needed for a stable equal-weighted series.
You didnt get full coverage constituent history? Why not? Explain only in text
- The baskets were screened from market-cap lists and return aggregators, which give point-in-time caps and headline total returns — not continuous adjusted month-end closes for all 61 names.
- Coverage gaps are structural: recent IPOs/spin-offs (neoclouds, APLD/CoreWeave-type names), ticker changes, M&A/delistings, and free-source history limits meant no uniform 24-month panel.
- Without an authenticated price feed I could not fill those gaps, so any equal-weighted bottom-up index would have changed its constituent mix month to month — hence audited ETF series for the correlation.
